(n.) a tool or implement, especially one for precision work.
INSTRU———MENTS is an alchemy of ideas. A research practice examining the relationship between humans and advanced design, expressed through garments and systems of thought. Subversive and archival references are integrated with form and function, where design operates with intent.
INSTRU———MENTS approaches design as a tool — one that extends human capabilities both functionally and psychologically. Each piece is conceived to enable individual potential, contributing to an evolving network of advanced communities.
Founded in 2025 by JHORELL, INSTRU———MENTS began as a research project during his tenure as a designer in Singapore. As his body of work developed, patterns emerged—an apophenia—informing each collection as an inquiry into human behavior, perception, and advanced design.
Now presenting from JHORELL’s place of origin, Manila, Philippines (2026), INSTRU———MENTS continues its investigation into form, function, and the human condition.
